Autumn 2011 Key Colors--Candy Pink!

It doesn't have to be all Christmas stuff yet--we're still enjoying Autumn! This year, jewel tones are hot--and a good excuse to add some (more!) color into your wardrobe. Candy pink is a fun color no matter what your age--and my shop has a lot more pink to choose from than just the above examples. Remember if you buy a Buddha necklace you're also doing a good deed, as $6 will go to the Red Cross to help tsunami relief efforts in Japan (come 2011 the $6 will go to general disaster relief). My shop has necklaces--and bracelets--at very affordable prices--necklaces starting at just $10! And no matter what the price, the same care and love has been put into each piece. Come have a look around and enjoy!

Eeeeeeep! Is it that time of year already?

Well, not quite, maybe, but for international shopping, yes. Christmas items are coming to my shop all this week! Please note that international orders take 4-10 days to arrive, and that once Friday, December 9th, rolls around Royal Mail will not promise delivery by Christmas. I will still ship after that, but I cannot guarantee delivery either, obviously! So, please shop early--don't worry, there are lots of non-Christmasey things to look at, too! And as always, I'm happy to take commissions and I will shorten or lengthen existing items at no extra charge. :)

Autumn 2011 Key Colors: Sapphire Blue

Jewelry is a great way to add color to your wardrobe--less expensive than a bunch of new clothes, but just as exciting. Sapphire blue is a key color for Fall 2011 and it's also a gorgeous shade to wear. Pair it with yellow for a little extra pop--and add a Russian Doll necklace to enjoy another 2 trends, Geek Chic and Quirky Accessories! Or enjoy some color blocking with a sea-inspired heart necklace. These, and other blue necklaces, can be found at my ArtFire shop! :)

BlytheConUK 2011 Raffle Necklaces

These past couple weeks I have been planning and making Blythe Necklaces for BlytheConUK in London. I can't believe it's just a month away now--wow! I'm still not even sure how many girls to bring--3 for sure, but maybe more... And Jim & I are still planning what to do on our other days...the Tower of London for sure...we didn't get there last trip. And maybe some shopping, as I didn't hit a few stores last time due to very sore feet. I need to plan better this time! Of course we'll head back to the British Museum. I think we'll also try to get to the Templar Church, and...and..I'm not sure! At least I've got my raffle pledge done and ready to mail! :)

No more Etsy!

It's official! My shops at Etsy are empty. I haven't yet moved everything into my ArtFire shop, but I'm getting there. :) So--if you are looking for something you faved or liked at either Bebopgirl1969Jewelry or Planet Blythe, it either is or will be at my ArtFire shop now--everything is under the name Bebopgirl1969Jewelry, all in one shop.

I want to reiterate that I have nothing against the sellers at Etsy; I will still shop there. I have no desire to punish the Sellers.

I had a lot of issues with Etsy's ethics--see here: http://clutchmagonline.com/2010/12/%E2%80%9Crape%E2%80%9D-congratulations-card-on-sale-at-etsy/
http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2011/01/07/jvm.greeting.cards.hln

At least Etsy revised its policies: http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/cab/abn/y11/m01/i17/s04 --but still.

Then there was this craziness: http://tryhandmade.com/calling-out-buyers-shopping-privacy-the-new-etsy/

Of course, Etsy responded to that, too, by making it impossible for Sellers to see Buyers feedback. Real helpful (sarcasm!).

Then there are all the mutings at the forums, the changes that don't need to be made (ie all the Social features), and the ignoring of all the changes that do need to be made (a DECENT search function, anyone?). All the ways to lead people out of shops. The mass amount of info that does not help me shop--or sell. All the ignoring of sellers' concerns...it all got to be too much for me. I just didn't want to be part of it.

I don't want this to turn into a debate--I just wanted to explain why I moved from a site where I had decent success to another place where I am also having decent success (and why I didn't decide to be at both places).

*Does anyone know how to get links to be clickable here? When I use the link button, nothing shows up in my post...??? And when I post a link as copied from the net, it isn't clickable...

My necklace was on TV! :)

So, awhile back, at my Etsy shop, I sold a necklace to the costume department of Wizards of Waverly Place. And today I found out from family back home that it was indeed worn, in the first episode of the new season in the States! How excited am I? :)
(EDIT: Just found out that the character Harper is the one who wore it!)

If you like this design, I have similar necklaces at my ArtFire shop (just click on the entry header to go to the right section), and one left in my Etsy shop. :)

New Buddha Necklaces

There are new Buddha designs in my ArtFire shop this week! As always, when you buy one of these necklaces I will donate $6 from the purchase price to the Red Cross Japan Tsunami Relief fund. I plan to do this until at least the end of the year, at which point the necklaces will morph from Buddhas for Japan into Buddhas for Disaster Relief, to help aid victims of disasters worldwide. In other words, this section is here to stay!

I am still searching for more natural colored Buddha beads, but at the moment brights seem to be all the rage. If you prefer more muted colors, be assured I am trying to find some!

It looks good in pastels, too...

If you're not into super-brights (see previous post), you can still rock the trend for orange & purple--just go pastel! :)

Orange & Purple--the Color Combo of the Season!

It's one of the biggest trends of the summer--purple & orange! Such a gorgeous color clash! And here's a super fun necklace which is not only made up of those colors, but which will help Japan via the Red Cross--$6 of the $12 purchase price will be donated. So come on, join this fun trend and do a good deed! Here are some ladies rocking the color combo:

Peachy Keen

These pretty pastel necklaces are a fun way to join in with this summer's love of orange if you are not a lover of super bright shades (or if, like me, you think the brighter, the better, but you also love variety...).

Gorgeously Gothic

I really enjoy these calla lily beads, and I really enjoy skull beads, too. Put them together and they make some gorgeously dark and gothy necklaces. Whether you're feeling like a zombie, vampire, witch, or you just embrace your dark side, there's a design for you. They are quite glam, too!

New in my ArtFire shop!

For some of my necklaces, like this one, I take inspiration from the bright, colorful world of Japanese anime. I love putting different colors together in happy, bright combos.

I love wearing lots of color, but I know some people find it a little intimidating. There's no reason to be afraid of lots of color--it can be amazingly versatile. This necklace, for instance, would look great with yellow or blue, of course, but would also add a pop of color to an all black outfit, or a summery white outfit.

As always with my Buddha designs, $6 goes to the Red Cross to help Japan.

Helping Japan! Just a Friendly Reminder!

$6 from *every* necklace purchased in the Buddha For Japan section of my ArtFire shop will go to help Japan via the Red Cross Tsunami Appeal. There are lots of colors and color combos to choose from, from super brights to woodsy hues. Add something fun to your jewelry collection and do a good deed at the same time! :)

Indian Glass Jewelry=Pretty Basics!

Indian Glass jewelry is a fun way to add some color into your wardrobe and also add to your jewelry basics. I use these beads to make bracelets, super long necklaces, and shorter necklaces. Pink and lime green designs are now listed at my ArtFire shop and I will be adding more colors soon! Plus, just ask, I can make something especially for you if I don't already have it! I can also offer royal blue, brown, black & white, purple, red, light blue, emerald green, or any combination of those.

Also, don't forget Buddhas for Japan! :) http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=Shop&sc_id=152205&seller_id=39626&op=new Buy a necklace, do a good deed--each Buddha necklace purchased=$6 to help Japan via the Red Cross.

The Move Continues

The big move to ArtFire continues! More items are being moved over from Etsy all the time. If you are missing an item you wanted at Etsy, it could be at ArtFire now. I haven't moved everything yet, tho, and some items are inactive at both shops at the moment, so please feel free to contact me if you are looking for a favorite which has gone "missing."

New Buddha designs will be in the shop by Friday! You helped me raise $36 in April--let's raise even more in May! There are still designs in shop as well as the new ones to come! :) http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=Shop&sc_id=152205&seller_id=39626&op=new

More Buddhas for Japan!

Just a note to say there are more Buddha designs in my Artfire shop! So far you've helped me raise $36 for Red Cross Japan Tsunami Relief--hooray! I know we can do even better, tho! These super bright designs are inspired by the wacky colors of Japanese anime. I am awaiting the arrival of some more sedate Buddhas for those who prefer a little less color clash. :)

New necklaces will continue to be added--please check back daily! At the moment I am listing some super bright, super happy color combos which are inspired by anime designs. The move to Artfire is gaining momentum...

The move to Artfire is gaining momentum. In fact, I've even fallen a little behind with listings as my Etsy stuff expires! So, please have a look at my new shop:
http://www.artfire.com/users/Bebopgirl1969Jewelry (or click on today's blog title)

But there's still a lot of jewelry left at Etsy, too:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/Bebopgirl1969Jewelry (or click shop banner on left)

And I haven't moved anything from my Blythe shop yet:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/planetblythe (or click shop banner on left)

Through Thursday, March 31st, £1 from each item sold will be donated to Red Nose Day:
http://www.rednoseday.com/

And I am designing a new line of Buddha jewelry, which will launch at Artfire and from which I will donate money to Japan. I'm very excited about the items I've made so far!

If you would like to purchase an item from my etsy shop but are concerned about the recent privacy snafu, please see my previous blog post.

New Shop!

Exciting news! I'm slowly moving over my Etsy listings to a brand new Artfire shop: http://www.artfire.com/users/Bebopgirl1969Jewelry

I'm still selling at Etsy, so please feel free to continue shopping there as well. However, as items expire they will be moved to Artfire.

I know that Etsy has been in the news lately, and not for good reasons. I have been slowly growing disenchanted with them for the past few years and have finally just had enough. If you want something at either of my Etsy shops but are worried about the recent privacy concerns, you can message me and I will remove the item from my shop and invoice you privately.

No matter where you choose to shop for my handmade jewelry, I will donate £1 for every item sold to Red Nose Day throughout the month of March. And I am planning a special fundraiser for Japan in April!

Red Nose Day!

It's Red Nose Day in the UK! This is a fun time--people do crazy and funny and awe-inspiring and creative things to raise money for charities in the UK & Africa. A few years back I sold enough handmade greeting cards and jewelry to supply one village in Africa with mosquito nets. Can you help me do something similar this year? Please? :)

For every item you buy in either of my etsy shops during the entire month of March, I will donate £1 to Red Nose Day. If you would like to buy items from both shops, message me--I will combine the postage. If you are worried or angry about the recent privacy fiasco at etsy, please message me as well--I'll removed the items from my shop and invoice you separately. Here are the links to my shops (or, even easier, just click the links to the left of this post!):

Red Nose Day is March 18th!

During the month of March, 2011, I will donate £1 from every item sold in my shops to Red Nose Day. Want stuff from both shops? No problem! Flickr mail me and I'll combine the postage!
